||Banff International Hostel
||Nice and clean hostel, basic breakfast, laundry and parking facilities – bit walking time to the center.
||Huge dormitory with 40 beds for males/ females. Bathrooms in good condition. Difficult to reach without a car – kitchen good for self cooking.
||In this hostel I worked for 3 weeks – very unusual setting, 2 rooftop teraces, kitchen, free laundry, nice staff, lot of evening activiities
||Very clean, well operated hostel in downtown with bike rental, good breakfast, nice staff. 20-30 minutes walking distance from Niagara away. Downtown Niagara is a bit quiet.
||The Only Backpacker’s Inn
||Bit outside of downtown Toronto but metro station close. Tiny, unusual hostel, waffles for breakfast, small kitchen, very social hostel. No laundry.
||I was working in this hostel for a few weeks – nice HI standard hostel – very clean, spacious, patio on the roof, huge kitchen und breakfast with broad variety of bagels.
||Also HI standards but a bit more social areas – in the middle of the party district. Good breakfast and clean facilities.
||Grand Canyon Hostel
||Unfortunately got a room with a broken window. Next day we could change to a better one – quiet old house. Rooms were okay, facilities old but clean. Breakfast was okay as well. Place to stay for 1 night.
||New York City
||HI New York City
||Huge hostel with good facilities: café downstairs, huge kitchen area, laundry, dryer, tv room. Very modern bathrooms. Simple rooms with AC. Breakfast is okay. I really liked the tours organized by the hostels which were perfect to explore the city. Location is great – by metro only 15-20 minutes to the city – Central Park just 2 stops away.
||I loved this place – hippie hostel, chilled atmosphere close to the beach. Nice little breakfast, well maintained dorms and bathrooms. Great for surfing or just hanging around. Free shuttle to city center.
||HI Santa Monica
||Stayed there a few times – just a short walk away from the beach, in the center of Santa Monica and a short drive away from Los Angeles. For me the perfect place to stay. Laundry service, nice common area, activities every night and good dorms with clean new bathrooms. If you got the wrong room it can be a bit noisy.
||Simple HI hostel a bit of a walk outside of downtown. Beds and facilities were clean, breakfast was okay. Staff was very nice.
||Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort
||In the middle of nowhere but okay if you are travelling by car. Bunk dorms and bathrooms are clean, well maintained. Kitchen is bit pricy. Spa facilities offered. Okay for 1 night as it is a bit of a drive to Yosemite.
||HI Marin Headlands Hostel
||Bit outside of San Francisco but okay if you are travelling by car. Several busses can bring you to the city. In the middle of a nature paradise. Old colonial house with lot of wood, basic breakfast, laundry and nice common area. Dorms are basic but with good beds.

||West 33rd Avenue
||Good for arrival by car as it is a bit outside of downtown. Kitchen and parking facilities, clean 3-5 pax dorms and nice bathrooms. Little breakfast provided. Not very social atmosphere.

||9th Ave Hostel
||Chilled out atmosphere – felt like a normal house. The staff is very nice – the dorm rooms in the basement. Not the cleanest hostel I ever had, but okay for 1-2 nights if you arrive by car. Little kitchen for self cooking.
